A Cause We Support: The MTeam

It’s important to us to give back to our community, so we’ve selected the MTeam as an organization that we will support annually, through a monetary donation and with an auction item donation.

The “M” in the MTeam stands for Meredith (who is the daughter of one of our daughter’s past work colleagues). Meredith was born with a rare genetic disorder called FOXG1, and is one of only about 400 people diagnosed worldwide.

The MTeam is a group of runners and cyclists who raise awareness for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They also fundraise to support the work of Best Buddies International and have purchased special equipment for Meredith’s school that has allowed her to communicate her basic needs and express herself creatively for the first time through eye tracking technology (she is non-verbal).

Best Buddies International works toward inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, through integrated employment, leadership development opportunities, facilitating friendships and inclusive housing.
